Oxford and Bourton-on-the-Water
Sunday, April 4, 2010 at 9:20PM We drove in to Oxford this morning, past Eynsham where my late uncle, Charles Allan Caine lived for a good while. We parked in the centre of Oxford and wandered over the road to the Ashmolean Museum where we had a brief look around. We continued to wander around Oxford; some parts were new to us, other parts we recognised from our previous visit. I was feeling a bit out of sorts today, perhaps a little depressed, and I put it down to it being my 52nd birthday today and perhaps I wasn't too happy at being yet another year older. Still, it's better than not getting any older.
After a snack in an Oxford cafe we headed off to Cirencester but we didn't actually stop and get out there. I was feeling down and needed to buck up.
We then went to Bourton-on-the-Water which was extremely picturesque and quite busy. That really picked me up and enjoying some late afternoon sunshine we went around the model village and then I wandered along the riverbank while my wife looked in some of the small shops. We had a coffee in one of the many riverside cafes before heading back to our hotel and a room service evening meal before packing for an early start in the morning.
