The Brick Arrives

I’d had a Canon 24-70 2.8L lens in my Amazon “wish list” for about 10 months now and recently decided to take the plunge and order it from my local branch of Jessops instead.

I had the email this morning to say it was now in stock so I popped down after work to collect it and then went straight home to try it out. Sod going to the pub this Friday!

I now see why it's nicknamed "The Brick". It’s not a particularly long lens although the lens hood is huge in comparison to the focal length range. It’s a really solid and heavy lens for its size and I can’t wait to try it out.

I’m also making my way through the huge thread about this lens on the Canon Forums at http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=173736 and although I’m currently 82 pages in there always seem to be at least 100 pages more to go. Still, I’m enjoying the fine examples of what the lens can achieve.
